A Virgin sailing booked through Dip Needle carries onboard credit and the selected offers open to our cruise partnerships, named beside the fare before anything is reserved. The cabin is the decision worth slowing down for: a Sea Terrace buys outdoor hours and a hammock, RockStar Quarters buy space and the rooftop, and an Insider suits a holiday spent almost entirely out of the room. Beyond that we read the schedule for late departures and overnight calls, since an adults-only ship earns its keep after dark and a port that closes at five wastes the point. The flights, the night before in the departure city and the drive to the terminal are arranged alongside.

04Behind the programme
Virgin Voyages
Virgin Voyages built a ship for grown-ups and then declined to be solemn about it. Scarlet Lady sails adults only, and the evening reflects the company: Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle sending out Peking duck bao buns, Richard’s Rooftop above it all for the guests who have the run of it, Club Caliente and Klub Rubiks later on, and the Manor for the hours when the time stops mattering.
The accommodation is where the wit shows. Almost every Sea Terrace hangs a hand-woven hammock outside, which turns an ordinary balcony into the reason to come back to the cabin in the afternoon. It is a ship for couples, for old friends and for anyone who would rather choose a restaurant than be assigned a table, and it is entirely possible to spend a day aboard doing very little.

Confirmation and the travel plan reach you before departure. The flights land the day before, so embarkation is a slow afternoon on deck instead of a race against the terminal clock.
