Scarlet Lady is the first Virgin Voyages ship and sails adults only, which settles a great deal about how it feels. The evening is the main event. Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle sends out Peking duck bao buns and the rest of its Chinese menu, the Festival Stage takes whatever the night has been built around, Club Caliente and Klub Rubiks come later, and the Manor holds the hours when the time has stopped mattering. Richard’s Rooftop sits above all of it for the guests who have the run of it. The cabins carry the same wit: a Sea Terrace runs from 185 to 225 square feet, and almost every one of them hangs a hand-woven hammock outside.

A Sea Terrace measures between 185 and 225 square feet, and almost all of them hang a hand-woven hammock on the balcony. It sounds like a flourish and turns out to be the reason people stay in the cabin: an hour outside at sea, in shade, with the water going past. Sea View and Insider cabins suit travellers who intend to be out of the room from breakfast onwards, while RockStar Quarters begin at 352 square feet and run a very long way beyond it.
Where the night goes
Dinner is chosen rather than assigned, and the restaurants are as much the point of the ship as the ports are. Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle handles the Chinese end of the evening, from Peking duck bao buns to stir-fried noodles, and the night moves outward from there: the Festival Stage, Club Caliente, Klub Rubiks and eventually the Manor. Tables and shows are worth settling before boarding, while there is still a choice of hours.
Adults only, and why it works
The adults-only rule is less a restriction than a filter, and it sets the temperature of every public space aboard. The pool deck sounds different, dinner runs later, and the evenings are built for people with no early start to protect. It suits couples, groups of old friends and solo travellers who want company available rather than compulsory, and it remains entirely possible to spend a day aboard reading and speaking to nobody at all.
