What the room rate leaves out
Two rates for the same suite can describe two different stays. The comparison worth making is the whole booking: the address, the privileges and the terms.

Begin with the address
In Venice the question is settled before a rate is ever quoted. A palazzo on the Grand Canal and a quiet house in a sestiere away from the crowds may cost much the same for the night, and they are not the same holiday. One puts the city at the window; the other lets you leave it at the door. The choice depends on how the days will be spent, and no comparison of rates can make it for you.
So we begin there. If dinner is a walk away every evening, the address matters more than the floor space. If the hotel is the holiday, the room, the terrace and the hours spent in them deserve the closer look. Say what you want from the stay, and the shortlist writes itself.
The privileges change the sum
Book through Dip Needle and the rate arrives with company. Across our hotel programmes, eligible bookings carry daily breakfast for two, a hotel credit to spend on property, room upgrades, early check-in and late check-out, VIP recognition and preferred offers. Put those beside a headline rate found elsewhere and the arithmetic changes: breakfast is already taken care of, the credit becomes the spa afternoon or the dinner on the terrace, and the day begins and ends on your timetable rather than the hotel’s.
These belong in the comparison from the start, not as a pleasant surprise at check-in. Privileges apply to eligible bookings and vary by hotel and rate; upgrades and check-in and check-out times are subject to availability.
Compare the terms, not the total
A fair comparison puts like beside like: the same room category, the same occupancy, taxes included and the cancellation terms set side by side rather than buried. Then it adds what you will actually use. Breakfast for two is worth a great deal to some travellers and nothing to those who prefer the café on the corner; a late check-out is priceless before an evening flight and irrelevant before a morning one.
A preferred rate is not always the lowest number on the page, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. What it is, when the privileges are ones you will enjoy, is the better stay for the money. The proposal shows you the difference and what it buys, and the choice remains yours.
Let one stay lead to the next
The last column in the comparison is the one that runs past check-out. Circle members earn points on qualifying bookings, redeemed for future travel, gifts and gift cards, so a week in Venice contributes something to wherever comes after it. Tell your advisor about the hotel loyalty memberships you already hold as well; where a programme recognises them, the stay can count there too.
Membership of Circle is by application, and the earning and redemption terms are set out for your booking rather than promised in general. What we can say in general is this: a hotel chosen well is a pleasure twice, once in the staying and once in what it makes possible next.
